Steve Dunn

My work is the result of over 30 years of study of abstract expressionism and its subsequent movements. My greatest influence having been the work of Jackson
Pollack and his contemporaries.

My work also incorporates the principles of graphic design. As a graphic designer
for over 20 years I was most influenced by the grid system of design.

In addition to abstract expressionism, the work shown here incorporates my
interest not only in the grid system, but minimalism, geometry and mechanical drawing.

I believe mathematics, especially geometry, and mechanical drawing to be art forms
in themselves, with a beauty of their own. The juxtaposition of lines, angles and shapes together with color form the basis of my work.

My inspiration comes from daily experiences and interacting with nature.

I create art for arts sake. The work speaks for itself and I would hope each viewer takes away his or her personal meaning from it.
